TP: Hi Devon_Vice. To answer your first question, Sony is running the servers. As far as whether or not they would get shut down if no one is playing the game – I hope we never have to face that scenario!

I'm curious to know how the buddy list and messaging in Resistance fits in with the buddy list and messaging already in the PS3 OS. From the looks of it I'm guessing they're completely independent of eachother... which is pretty sucky.
That said, it looks like they've got it right for multiplayer.

After the way gamesites were writing about the demo back in E3 I expected flawless crowd interaction... the X06 demo kind of let me down in that deparment.

Yeah. And a good example that comes to mind is ICO. That had the worst box art for PS2, ever... but it was a wonderful game.
